In a house in Noyelles-Sous-Lens, France, parents were raising their children in dire conditions. Once on the scene, the police could only see the horror in which the children lived. One of the children testifies at the microphone of BFM TV.
A couple from Noyelles-Sous-Lens (Pas-de-Calais) will be tried in January, suspected of violence and educational deficiencies, after the discovery Tuesday by the police of two of their ten children tied to high chairs, in a situation of “deplorable hygiene”.
When the police intervened, they found that two children aged two and five were tied to high chairs, so that they would not move and in a deplorable state of hygiene.
I decided to say stop
The family situation was denounced by Bryan, one of the eldest of the siblings. At the microphone of BFM TV, this 21-year-old young man testifies. “I have lived and seen many things in this home. Today, I am the father of a 20-month-old little girl. You do not raise a child in such conditions. To my knowledge, no family to this functioning: physical and verbal violence, strict punishments”, he says.
It was after yet another family fight that Bryan decided to give the alert. “They got three on my 16-year-old little brother. I had to physically intervene to get my little brother out of that. I decided to say stop. I couldn’t live the scenes that I had anymore. lived”breathes the young man.
At the microphone of our colleagues from BFM TV, he remembers the “blows with sticks, whips, squeegees, brooms and safety shoes”. “I saw my sisters tied up 23 hours a day, with the diaper filled with excrement. I saw my two parents tying my 6 and 10 year old brothers in strollers so that they did not move with ropes from bathrobes“, he testifies. According to this young man, the 10 children are there to “serve as wages” for their parents (through family allowances, editor’s note).
A judgment expected on January 24
The parents, a 44-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, are suspected of “subtraction by ascendant from legal obligations” and “violence of a 15-year-old minor by ascendant”, without ITT (total incapacity for work).
The family has a total of ten children aged 4 months to 24 years, including seven minors, and “the facts are alleged on all the minors and one of the adults”, potential facts on the two eldest being prescribed. The seven minors were the subject of a temporary placement order.
Placed in police custody on August 31, the parents were brought before a judge and placed under judicial supervision, with a ban on contact with their children, and obligations of care. They will be tried on January 24.
