The independent publisher Ratalaika Games partners with RedBlack Spade to announce the upcoming release of catmazea metroidvania inspired by Slavic mythology.
The game will be released on September 9 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch, priced at €9.99. Secrets, magic and traveling through enchanting settings are just some of the exciting challenges on offer.
The player embodies Alesta, a teenage witch who sees her life turned upside down after a rather unfortunate experience. Wanting to bring her mother back from the world of the dead, Alesta enlists the help of the cats who bridge the world of the living and the world of the dead, known as Yavi and Navi. Alesta is a character with a strong mind, but unfortunately not strong muscles, which adds to the fact that she doesn’t attack monsters herself – others do for her. In all, there are 12 types of creatures in the game: some hit slow and hard, some are weak and fast, and some can poison enemies or freeze them.
Throughout the game, you will explore the world which consists of caves, forests, and villages to help him accomplish what was initially believed to be impossible. As you progress, you’ll gain upgrades and new abilities that allow you to access previously inaccessible areas. Additional short sections of game mechanics provide variety to enhance the experience – ride a wolf or fly on a broomstick, it’s a lot more fun than just moving around on our two legs!
