There is prescription. In early 2021, Coline Berry-Rojtman came out of silence to denounce facts of rare violence. She filed a complaint against her father, Richard Berry, for “rape and sexual assault on a minor”. An investigation was opened following these accusations, and the actor, as well as his ex-wife Jeane Manson, were implicated for “sexual assault on a 15-year-old minor by ascendant” and “corruption of a 15-year-old minor”. According to the complainant, the events occurred in the mid-1980s, when she was between eight and nine years old. But 30 years later, they are prescribed. In other words, the alleged perpetrators – Richard Berry having always firmly denied any incestuous relationship – can no longer be prosecuted. When the court decision was announced, Marilou Berry’s cousin shared a note from his lawyer, Patrick Klugman, on his Instagram account. “I welcome the decision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which after a long and meticulous investigation, takes note of the prescription and thus considers them sufficiently characterized and therefore probable.
