Daniel Ricciardo has revealed a conciliatory Mark Webber came to see him in Zandvoort, with the two Aussies having set things straight on the Oscar Piastri saga.
Ricciardo and McLaren’s decision to part ways at the end of the season is directly linked to Webber’s dealings with the Woking-based outfit as youngster Piastri’s manager.
The ex-Red Bull driver, who was present in Zandvoort for Channel 4came to see Ricciardo on Sunday morning before the Dutch Grand Prix to express his personal feelings on the saga, where his compatriot was collateral damage.
“Mark kind of wanted to apologize and try to see how I was doing, reveals Ricciardo. There was nothing personal against me. He wanted to make sure I knew it and understood it. And make sure I wasn’t uncomfortable. »

“He feels really bad, obviously, because of the way it happened and how things were scripted in the media. So yeah, it was obviously nice talking to him.” continues Daniel.
“I sincerely wish good luck to Piastri. I want him to have a great career in Formula 1. And I still love Mark very much and respect him.” he concludes.
