With the potential departure of Colton Herta and that of Alex Rossi confirmed, Romain Grosjean could well become the boss at Andretti Autosport.
The IndyCar championship ended on Sunday on the beautiful Laguna Seca circuit with the coronation of Will Power at the end of a season dominated by Team Penske.
In the French clan, there was little reason to rejoice, the promotion of Romain Grosjean in the top team Andretti Autosport having not really borne fruit while Simon Pagenaud regressed by joining Meyer Shank Racing.
After a year of adapting to their new environment, the two tricolor veterans could however showcase themselves in 2023.
At Andretti, Grosjean would indeed be surrounded by the two young Devlin DeFrancesco and Kyle Kirkwood but not necessarily by Colton Herta, still expected in F1 by Scuderia AlphaTauri.
We suspect that Michael Andretti will try to find an experienced driver to replace him if necessary, even if there are not many free of contract in the paddock, with the possible exception of Felix Rosenqvist in case Alex Palou was confirmed by McLaren.
Grosjean had a great race at Laguna Seca after qualifying on the second row, with some nice overtaking, but he lost ground towards the end due to degraded tires to finish in seventh place.
This IndyCar championship final is to be relived for Belgian viewers this Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. on VOO Sport World.
