Hugh Jackman, courageous father in Venice

After “The Father”, the French writer and director Florian Zeller presented in competition at the 79th Venice Film Festival. For this new film, he notably directed Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern and vanessa kirby, present at the press conference. “You have to be a good dancer to play a really bad dancer,” the filmmaker said of a scene where Hugh Jackman starts dancing. “This is the most important story I have had to tell. I didn’t make this film to share my feelings, but I was surprised by the audience’s reaction after presenting the play. “I understand what you are talking about”, they told me”.

“Love is not always enough. To raise a child, it takes more than a father and a mother. Since this film, my perception of fatherhood has changed,” explained Hugh Jackman. “Mental illnesses are everywhere, affect everyone. We all know someone affected and we have to raise awareness of the cause,” he added.
