Pierre Gasly is conspicuous by his absence this Thursday at Monza: he was called in sick for this day of media obligations, but what about next?
Winner of the Italian Grand Prix two years ago to everyone’s surprise, the French driver did not show up at the traditional press conference this afternoon.
“Following the advice of the doctors, Pierre Gasly will not be present at the circuit today because he does not feel well” says a terse statement from Scuderia AlphaTauri.
It is not known if he is suffering from a simple cold or if it is more worrying, such as a positive test for Covid for example.
In which case, Red Bull reserve driver Liam Lawson would be called in to help, knowing that the young New Zealander has already participated in the EL1 at Spa at AlphaTauri (pictured above) two weeks ago.
Some imagine that Gasly is suffering from a diplomatic illness so as not to answer questions about his transfer to Alpine in 2023 to succeed Fernando Alonso.
The paddock is indeed holding its breath as to the decision of the FIA to grant (or not) the super license to the IndyCar driver Colton Herta that Red Bull would like to hire in place of Gasly at AlphaTauri.
