Wojciech Szczesny went out on a stretcher yesterday against La Spezia after an aerial duel during which the Polish goalkeeper’s ankle spun. He underwent radiological examinations and his injuries are now known. Find out more details and information in this article.
Facing La Spezia, Wojciech Szczesny went out on a stretcher, to the applause of the stadium. During an aerial exit, the Polish goalkeeper fell badly and his ankle turned well. A serious injury was feared, but the first news is however reassuring.
The player underwent radiological examinations this morning and the club published this on their social networks: “Following the trauma to the right ankle, Szczęsny underwent radiological examinations last night at J Medical which ruled out fractures and significant lesions of the ligament capsule. Its availability will be assessed according to the evolution of the symptoms.”
It is therefore a serious sprain but there is no fracture and the ligaments are not affected. No return date has been communicated. One thing is certain is that he will miss the match against Fiorentina next weekend and most likely the match against PSG on the first day of the Champions League group stage. His condition will be monitored daily, business to follow… We wish him a good recovery.
🚑 No major ligament capsule fractures and injuries for Szczesny. Its availability will be evaluated according to the evolution of the symptoms.
